ABIGAIL’S PARTY

BY MIKE LEIGH

In our stunning theatre on the Two Sisters’ Lawn, there is going to be a party that may make you squirm, but you won’t want to miss…

Mike Leigh’s tragicomic masterpiece ABIGAIL’S PARTY has garnered cult status across the decades.

At the height of 1970s suburbia, social class and ambition, Beverly Moss, the Hostess with the Mostess, is inviting you to her cocktail party. The latest tracks are on the record player, the drinks are flowing and there’s even a bowl of olives – although it seems that only Laurence likes those. As the night moves on and the party gets thick with sexual tension, Beverly’s exclusive gathering quickly descends into chaos.

First performed on stage and then broadcast as a BBC Play for Today in 1977. This epic modern classic with characters and uncomfortable situations that feel as relevant today as they did almost 50 years ago, is our first co-production with Edenbridge Players.

Catering and Venue

Two Sisters’ Theatre

Located on the Two Sister’s Lawn, our theatre has…

One continuous roof, every auditorium seat is undercover and allocated. The roof section over the auditorium is transparent so you will be able to enjoy the stars above, as you watch The Stars on stage!

We can close our walls for events outside the summer months. The walls are clear, so you still feel you are in the beautiful garden just with protection from the weather.

For some summer shows the lawns are opened up. You to choose where to sit when you arrive and enjoy your picnic during the event. You will need to bring your own seats, beanbags or rugs etc for the lawns.

Please check our  access page for further information.

The theatre bar will be open before the event and during the interval for hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream and hot sausage rolls and Cornish pasties.

The Theatre Bar on the Two Sisters’ Lawn
