We are delighted the Guildhall Strings are performing with us again this summer following their beautiful festival debut celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee in 2022. How times have changed since then, luckily the group haven’t and are back by popular demand with a new programme, The Best of Baroque.
The concert will be introduced by the players with insightful stories about the programme throughout the evening, and will include;
Handel Concerto Grosso no 1
Bach Concerto for 2 violins
Bach Brandenburg Concerto no 3 for solo strings
INTERVAL
Vivaldi Concerto for two cellos
Teleman Don Quixote Suite
Formed in 1981, the Guildhall Strings were immediately recognised as one of the UK’s leading classical groups. Their almost telepathic performances without conductor were described by The Guardian as ‘an object in ensemble playing’. They broadcast regularly for the BBC and have toured to North & South America, Europe, Africa and the Far East. Their many recordings on major labels span the music of five centuries.
In recent years the members of the group have pursued their individual careers and they have only performed together on special occasions. Hever Festival Theatre is lucky enough to be considered a special enough occasion!
