The Boleyns in Context

The Boleyns in Context

A Talk by

Ann Henning Jocelyn

Countess of Roden

Thurs 1 June 7.30pm

Two Sisters Theatre

SPECIAL OFFER! Complimentary copy of ‘The Sphere of Light’ novel for every ticket purchaser (for collection on the night)!

This thoroughly researched talk will show how events unfolding at the court of Henry VIII owed more to major political interests on the European Continent than to popular myths of sexual obsession, ruthless ambition, megalomania, or insanity. The Boleyn women had little to set against abuse, violation, even execution, by men in power. Even so, they came to affect the course of English history – though in ways not often acknowledged.

The talk will be followed by the launch by Dr Owen Emerson, of the novel, The Sphere of Light/ Secrets of the Boleyn Women, by Ann Henning Jocelyn.

“Engaging and deeply moving, bringing convincing new insights into the Boleyn story.” Dr Damien Duffy.

“Captivating, sumptuous in detail and thrillingly plotted – a triumph!” Dr Owen Emmerson.
