Charles Court Opera returns to Hever Castle with The Pirates of Penzance.

This special, gala performance stars G&S veteran Richard Suart as the Major General, who is well known to G&S audiences around the world.  Come and join some of CCO’s very best performers as they transport you to Penzance for a very piratical adventure.

This special performance will be delivered expertly by a first rate cast well known to G&S audiences, including Richard Suart (D’Oyly Carte, ENO), Amy J Payne (Opera North), Catriona Hewiston (Scottish Opera), Matthew Kellett (G&S Festival) and David Menezes (Grange Festival).

And if you’d like to join in…. there is an opportunity to sing the choruses of The Pirates of Penzance as part of the evening performance of the full opera, from the comfort of your seats, in the beautiful surroundings of Hever Castle. Led by David Eaton, CCO’s esteemed Musical Director, come along to an afternoon rehearsal at 3pm – 6pm, pick the best view for your picnic and be back at the theatre in time to take part in the evening.

Or, just come along and enjoy a first rate night, showcasing CCO at their very best!

This performance is semi staged.

About The Pirates of Penzance.

Frederic can’t wait to turn 21. He never really wanted to be a pirate and sail the Cornish Main. But for now he’s caught between a marauding crew that lacks killer instinct, a squad of overly empathetic policemen, and a modern major-general’s bevy of purposeful daughters. Chock-a-block with wit, charm and a treasure trove of hits, Gilbert and Sullivan sail triumphantly back to Hever Castle.

Please bring your score, if you have one, as well as your fine voices! Don’t worry, if you can’t make the rehearsal you can still sing at the performance (maybe just quietly).
