Beyond the Barricade
Sun 25 May 8pm
Two Sisters’ Theatre
Celebrating 25 years as the UK’s favourite musical theatre concert tour.
Beyond the Barricade, the UK’s longest running musical theatre concert tour features past principal performers from Les Miserables and delivers over two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, ending of course with a stunning finale from Les Mis. This brand new show will include many of the best numbers that have made Beyond the Barricade the most popular musical theatre concert in the country.
The concert features David Fawcett (Valjean) Andy Reiss (Enjolras & Resident Director for the National Tour of Les Miserables) Katie Leeming (Eponine) and Poppy Tierney (Cosette), together with a live band who capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals.
To this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed. Beyond the Barricade gives musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience are watching the original performance.
25 Years on tour. Where it all began…
‘We are thrilled to have reached the amazing milestone of 25 Years on the road. Without your support we could not have achieved this.
Thank You!
The original concert idea was conceived and developed by Andy Reiss and David Fawcett, who first met when performing in the Manchester production of Les Misérables. They both moved to the West End production of the show where a request came for a series of concerts to be staged as part of a MENCAP charity fundraising drive.
With requests for more and more appearances from what was in fact a concert with no real name, the show was expanded and began booking into venues throughout the UK following the decision to use the name ‘Beyond the Barricade’. Using only performers who have performed in Les Misérables meant that our audience were under no illusion as to the quality of the concert tour.
Beyond the Barricade swiftly built up a reputation for its slick no nonsense style – giving musical theatre songs a bold concert format treatment – but with the conviction and intention to deliver the material as if the audience were watching the original performance.
The refusal to use ‘click’ tracks also enhanced the dynamic feel of the show. The band worked hard to capture the feel of the original orchestrations of the chosen musicals, and to this day every musical note is still played and sung live – very rare indeed.
The show has appeared in many countries, including Spain, Denmark, Malta, Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila, New Zealand and Australia, but its continued presence on the theatre scene in the UK is down to the fantastic support of our audience. We are more than aware that thousands of fans return year after year to support us, and for that we are eternally grateful. Although the Pandemic halted our 21st Anniversary celebration – we are back touring, and thrilled, excited, and very thankful for the amazing support our fans across the UK have already shown us, and most definitely plan to make the most of our 25th Anniversary year!’

Two Sisters’ Theatre
Located on the Two Sister’s Lawn, our new theatre has…
One continuous roof, every auditorium seat is undercover and allocated. The roof section over the auditorium is transparent so you will be able to enjoy the stars above, as you watch The Stars on stage!
We can close our walls for events outside the summer months. The walls are clear, so you still feel you are in the beautiful garden just with protection from the weather.
For some summer shows the lawns are opened up. You to choose where to sit when you arrive and enjoy your picnic during the event. You will need to bring your own seats, beanbags or rugs etc for the lawns.
The theatre bar will be open before the event and during the interval for hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream and hot sausage rolls and Cornish pasties.
