This is our 3rd year working with award-winning Sussex-based Grinstock Comedy Club. We’re delighted to welcome back their brilliantly funny, live comedy shows. So much so we have invited them to the festival for two nights, Fri 31 May and Thurs 8 Aug.

They’re bringing two amazing line-ups packed full of TV and national touring comedians. Check out the two different line-ups, they’re truly outstanding. So much so we are sure you will want to come along to both!

We’re very excited to be back at the wonderful Festival Theatre at Hever Castle in this stunning new venue.

Nathan Caton is one of the most exciting young comedians on the scene. Gigging since the tender age of 19, over the last 2 decades, he has established himself both as a circuit headliner, and a name on TV and radio.

Within his first few years on stage, he had picked up various accolades and coveted plaudits including the Chortle Student Comic of the Year award and Broadcast Hotshot and written and starred in a pilot for Paramount Comedy (now Comedy Central) entitled The Nathan Caton Show.

Since then, Caton has gone from strength to strength, wowing audiences at comedy clubs up and down the UK, and on his numerous TV and radio appearances, with his delightfully charming blend of personal and political comedy.

This softly-spoken Welsh comedian boasts a densely packed arsenal of impressive one-liners and hilarious short stories. Morgan has appeared on BBC Radio 4 in the prestigious finals of the BBC New Comedy Award. He was also a runner-up in So You Think You’re Funny 2017, and a finalist in Chortle Student Comedy Award.

Morgan Rees is a highly acclaimed stand-up, writer and actor. This energetic and hilarious Welshman boasts shows full of one-liners, rolling stories and superb observations. A greatly in-demand stand-up and MC, Morgan can be seen regularly at all major comedy clubs throughout the country.

While not performing, Morgan writes for other comedians and supplies additional material for flagship shows such as Mock The Week, The Great American Joke-Off etc. He’s the co-writer of the internet sensation Uncle Roger and was co-writer of the Broadcast Award-nominated sketch show, East Mode on Comedy Central.

Host of Live at the Apollo

Original and provocative, Dane Baptiste is hailed as one of the most exciting acts in British Comedy. The London-born stand-up made history in 2014 as the first Black British act to be nominated for a comedy award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for his debut stand-up show Citizen Dane.

Following this nomination, the show enjoyed incredible success at London’s Soho Theatre completing two sold-out runs with additional dates added due to phenomenal demand. His second stand-up show Reasonable Doubts was again met with huge critical acclaim and performed to sold-out audiences at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe, with his first nationwide solo tour following in 2016. In 2018 Dane set out on a massive world tour, covering numerous territories, with his smash hit third stand-up hour G.O.D. (Gold. Oil. Drugs).

During the 2020 lockdown Baptiste performed on The Big Night In (BBC One) for Children in Need and Comic Relief. He has also hosted Live At The Apollo (BBC Two), Live from the Comedy Store (Comedy Central) and created, wrote and starred in his own sitcom Sunny D (BBC Three/One), which was the first black sitcom commissioned by the BBC in 20 years.

Dane also hosts his own hugely successful podcast Dane Baptiste Questions Everything, which was acquired by Acast in 2020. In October 2020, Dane’s satirical new pilot Bamous was commissioned by BBC Three. Dane created and presented the comedy entertainment show which celebrated Blackness and Britishness.

In 2021 Dane launched his Chocolate Chip Tour to critical acclaim with shows continuing in 2022.

Dane finished 2021 with regular appearances on Steph’s Packed Lunch and Unapologetic, both for Channel 4 and recently launched his YouTube series The A-Z of Blackness.

2023 saw Dane return to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first time in 5 years with his new show Bapsquire.

Dane’s Live work has gone from strength to strength since his debut show ‘Citizen Dane’; with successive live shows ‘Reasonable Doubts’ and ‘Gold Oil and Drugs’ not only being sell-out international tour shows as far afield as Australia and the UAE, but also being adapted for shows such as ‘Live At The BBC’ on Netflix and ‘Live At Soho Theatre’ on Amazon Prime.

Two Sisters’ Theatre

Our main theatre, located on the glorious Two Sisters’ Lawn has allocated, covered seating. Lawn areas where you can bring your own seats, beanbags, rugs etc. are available for selected performances only.

The Theatre Bar will be open on the theatre lawn before the show and during the interval for hot and cold, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, ice cream and snacks.

Freshly made crêpes will also be available. Savoury and sweet options, before evening shows only. Here is the menu.

Pre-Theatre suppers in the Guthrie Pavilion are not available before this performance.
